Federal Government Financial Incentives & Training Costs

New employees

New employees, or those that have worked for the enterprise for less than 3 months full time or 12 months part time.
(From 1st July 2006)

Federal Government Financial Incentives

Certificate III
Commencement Incentive: $1,500
Completion Incentive: $2,500

Total incentives received: $4,000

State Government Work Cover exemption
WorkCover exemptions apply for all New Entrants’ into Traineeships & Apprenticeships. Employers MUST have a current WorkCover policy of insurance under which their trainee or apprentice is covered for workers compensation purposes.

Note: These Government financial incentives do not apply if the new employee already has a prior qualification, this will be verified with the New Apprenticeship Centre on enrolment.

Fees and Charges

An annual enrolment fee of $500.00 per trainee is payable.

Training is funded by the Victorian State Government for new employees

Existing employees

Existing employees are those that have worked for the enterprise for more than 3 months full time or 12 months part time.
(From 1st July 2006)

Certificate III
Commencement Incentive: $1500
Completion Incentive: $2500

Total incentives received: $4,000

However, the State Government does not fund the WorkCover exemption or the training provider for the delivery of the training, so this will need to be paid for by the employer, as detailed below.

Note: These federal Government financial incentives do not apply if the new employee already has a prior qualification, this will be verified with the New Apprenticeship Centre on enrolment.

Fees and Charges

An annual enrolment fee of $500.00 per trainee is payable.

Delivery of Certificate III in Engineering $3000 per trainee

  • 1st instalment – $1500 after the 3 month probation period is completed
  • Completion instalment – $1500 when the trainee successfully completes certificate III
